Measham was the first Primary Health Care team in Leicestershire. The administrative partner in 1964 realised the potential benefits of having nurses, health visitors, midwives etc working from the same building and being part of the same team and sharing the same ideals as the doctors.

This team offers comprehensive care in the home allowing the very ill to remain at home when preferred. It works with other nursing agencies such as Hospice at Home / Marie Curie, Macmillan and out of hour’s teams.
The team is dedicated to providing the best care at home when it is needed, but travelling takes up time we would rather spend with patients. For this reason we only make home visits when patients are too ill to come to surgery.
There are two daily clinics (by appointment) for expert management of wounds, leg ulcers and postoperative care. Other procedures include injections and venepuncture. We also give confidential advice and assessment of incontinence problems.

Lesley Renton, Nursery Nurse
Every family with a child under 5 years old can access the Health Visiting Team. We can offer advice and support on a child's health and development and other issues affecting the family.
Both Health Visitors are nurses with additional midwifery and health visiting qualifications. Lesley, as a Nursery Nurse, is qualified to offer routine advice relating to developmental progress, feeding advice and behaviour management. Karen Bradley, as a healthcare Assistant, offers admin support within the clinic setting.
Immunisations are offered weekly on a Tuesday afternoon 2-4pm by appointment with Jacqui Hale and Diane Watts. We also run a weekly baby drop-in clinic on a Tuesday 1.30-3.30pm, giving an opportunity to access the team. The Health Visitors and Doctors will offer reviews to monitor your child's health and development up to their 5th birthday.

Midwife
- Our Midwife, Lorraine Bailey, and most of the doctors hold antenatal clinics. If you know that you are pregnant it is not necessary to see a doctor. Just book a first antenatal appointment with the midwife. The midwives also give pre - conceptual care and advice and hold parent craft classes. The midwives offer a home delivery service if appropriate and they also visit you during the postnatal period after you have had the baby.
Physiotherapist
- A service is available for most of our patients over 16 years of age. Doreen Gash treats patients by appointment at the Unit or at home if they are too ill to come to the surgery. Ask your doctor about this service.
Podiatrist (Chiropodist)
- You can book for an assessment by telephoning the Therapy centre at Loughborough on 01509 564321 before 1 pm. You will be given an appointment to see a podiatrist at Measham. Advice and treatment on all foot problems is given following a care plan based on the assessment.
Speech Therapist
- A speech therapist attends for one session a week. Her work is mainly with speech delay or problems in children, but other referrals have included patients after strokes, hysterical loss of voice and a patient who had had a sex change.
Practice Therapist
- Gordan Tinch does three sessions in the practice as part of the initiative to care for more mental health problems in the community. He has relieved some of the pressure on the partners from this group of patients.
Drug Counsellor
- The Drug Counsellor runs a drug counselling clinic once a fortnight and is based at Cameron Stansy in Loughborough. Patients can be referred to this service via their GP.
